New Elsevier journal on Transitions
Solving resource scarcity and environmental problems, notably related to fossil energy use and climate change, requires a combination of technical, institutional and social innovations and even fundamental changes in our societies. A new journal has been founded to address this important and exciting line of research. It will be published by Elsevier and carry the title Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions (EIST). The journal is associated with the Sustainability Transitions Research Network (STRN), which can be joined free of charge. See http://www.transitionsnetwork.org.
The journal intends to report the results of both fundamental and applied research. It will devote attention to policies removing fundamental barriers of an economic, social, political, and behavioral nature. To accomplish these goals, it will be open to a wide range of disciplines and research approaches. The journal aims to raise the quantity and quality of research articles on this important topic, and to tackle difficult and overlooked questions.
The editorial team includes the associate editors G. Kallis (Spain) and B. Truffer (Switzerland). A first issue with invited essays by internationally reputed researchers is currently in preparation. The journal is open to special issues addressing exciting themes, as long as these consist of very coherent and high-quality contributions. Authors can already submit papers online. The aim is to offer a very quick review procedure. Please visit www.elsevier.com/locate/eist. Here you can find more information about the journal, the editorial board, and the type of articles which can be submitted.
